Christian County Library has two community-building events planned during the last weeks of April, with learning opportunities and fun for children, teens, and adults. The first is Earth Day at the Park, happening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.Saturday at Finley River Park in Ozark, just across Riverside Road from the library. The library’s Earth Day celebration is designed to get the community outdoors and thinking about easy ways we can be more earth-friendly in our daily lives.

After protests erupted in Ferguson in 2014, Stacy West, artistic director of the St. Louis-based modern dance company MADCO, looked for a way to respond to the situation. But the timing didn't seem right.

"I felt that there were other artists that could come in more quickly than MADCO with a response to what was going on in Ferguson. Due to the nature of dance and hiring choreographers and booking venues, I didn't feel we were the people to do something quickly," West explains. The Tulsa City-County Library is among the finalists for the 2017 National Medal for Museum and Library Service.

The library system was one of 30 finalists named by the Institute of Museum and Library Service on Monday.
