Ann Campion Riley, acting director of MU Libraries, has been appointed to the new position of vice provost for libraries and university librarian effective July 1. 

Riley is a nationally-recognized leader with nearly 30 years of professional service in academic and research libraries. She joined MU in 2007 as the associate director for access, collections and technical services and was appointed acting director of MU Libraries in July 2015. WARRENSBURG — Wednesday morning, a tribute to Vietnam veterans was escorted by 103 Patriot Guard Riders, of Kansas City and Northwest Missouri, and law enforcement spanning several jurisdictions to the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg.

The Wall That Heals, a Vietnam Veterans Memorial Replica and Mobile Education Center, traveled by truck from Lee’s Summit to the lawn of the James C. Kirkpatrick Library at UCM. It will open Thursday morning with a special ceremony and is available for viewing 24 hours a day through Sunday afternoon.

Christian County Library has two community-building events planned during the last weeks of April, with learning opportunities and fun for children, teens, and adults. The first is Earth Day at the Park, happening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.Saturday at Finley River Park in Ozark, just across Riverside Road from the library. The library’s Earth Day celebration is designed to get the community outdoors and thinking about easy ways we can be more earth-friendly in our daily lives.

After protests erupted in Ferguson in 2014, Stacy West, artistic director of the St. Louis-based modern dance company MADCO, looked for a way to respond to the situation. But the timing didn't seem right.

"I felt that there were other artists that could come in more quickly than MADCO with a response to what was going on in Ferguson. Due to the nature of dance and hiring choreographers and booking venues, I didn't feel we were the people to do something quickly," West explains.
